ABOUT ME

As an oboist hailing from Qingdao, China, Ying Jiang has performed with Judson Civic Orchestra, Deerfield Family Theater Company, Chicago Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Northwestern University Opera, Northwestern University Baroque Music Ensemble, Northwestern University Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Sewanee Symphony Orchestra, Northwestern University Contemporary Music Ensemble, Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra, Indiana University Philharmonic Orchestra, Indiana University Chamber Orchestra, Indiana University Wind Ensemble, Indiana University Orchestra.

As a recipient of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Premiere Young Artist Award, Ying has captivating performances and mastery of both classical and contemporary repertoire. With years of dedicated training and professional experience, Ying has established herself as a performer, educator, and collaborator in the world of music.

A graduate of Northwestern University where she earned a Master of Music in Oboe Performance, Ying has studied under the guidance of renowned oboists Robert Morgan and Michael Henoch. Also a graduate of Indiana University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Music and an Outside Field, Oboe Performance and Arts Management, Ying has studied under the guidance of renowned oboists Linda Strommen and Roger Roe. Besides them, Ying also learned from Daniel Stolper and Marilyn Krentzmen in high school at Interlochen Arts Academy. She has played in masterclasses and coachings with artists such as Robert Walters, John Ferrillo, Jessica Warren, and Jennifer Christin.

In addition to her performing career, Ying is a dedicated music educator, offering oboe instruction to students of all levels. As a former oboe studio teaching assistant at Northwestern University, she is passionate about nurturing the next generation of musicians and is known for her patient, encouraging teaching style.
